About Us
A small team building a calmer place to talk online.
Live Chat started with a simple frustration: talking to people on the web had become slow and heavy. Rooms needed an account just to look inside, everything was buried behind a feed, and half the page was built to keep you scrolling rather than talking.
We wanted the opposite — a room you can open in a second, read without committing, and join only when you feel like it. That is the whole product.
Our mission
Make real-time conversation on the web feel as easy as it used to be. Fast to open, free to use, and safe enough that anyone can take part.
How it started
What began as a weekend experiment — a single page that pushed a new message to everyone connected — turned out to be the part people actually wanted. So we kept it lean and built outward from there: private messages, profiles, moderation tools, and the controls you need to decide who can reach you.
We still ship the same way we started: small changes, released often, reviewed with care. Nothing here is a dark pattern, and nothing is for sale.
What we value
People first
A chat room is only as good as the people in it. We build for real conversations, not engagement metrics.
Fast and simple
No installs, no bloated feed. Open a page, start talking. If a feature needs explaining, it is probably wrong.
Safe by default
Reporting, blocking, and moderation exist so everyone can take part without being harassed.
Built in the open
A small, remote-first team. Everyone owns their slice of the product from idea to deploy.
How we build
We are a small, remote-first team and we keep the stack boring on purpose: a real-time backend, a fast web frontend, and as little third-party code as we can get away with. Fewer moving parts means fewer ways for your messages to go missing or your data to leak.
If that sounds like your kind of project, we are usually somewhere on the careers page.
Come say hello
The best way to understand Live Chat is to use it. It takes about ten seconds.
