Terms of Service
Last updated: Sep 22, 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Live Chat, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
2. User Accounts
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity under your account. You must provide accurate information when creating an account.
We offer optional two-factor authentication (2FA) and passkey login to enhance account security. If you enable 2FA, you are responsible for safeguarding your backup codes. Lost backup codes may result in permanent loss of account access if you also lose access to your authenticator device. Passkeys are device-bound — you are responsible for maintaining access to your registered devices.
Sign-in sessions & your devices. For your security, we record the devices and approximate locations your account is signed into and provide a session list under Settings → Security, plus alerts when your account is signed into from a device or location it has not been used from before. You are responsible for reviewing your sessions and signing out any that are not yours; signing a session out revokes it immediately. If you believe your account has been accessed without your permission, sign out the unrecognized session, change your password, and contact us. Do not share your account credentials or leave your account signed in on devices you do not control.
Follow only accounts you genuinely want to see and engage with. Do not use the following or blocking systems to harass, intimidate, stalk, or repeatedly solicit other users.
3. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use Live Chat for any illegal purpose, to harass or abuse others, to distribute spam or malware, or to interfere with the service's operation. We reserve the right to suspend accounts that violate these terms.
4. Content Guidelines & Uploaded Media
You retain ownership of the messages and profile pictures you provide. You grant us a license to display your content within the app and to store and process it (including through third-party service providers) to provide the service.
Chat messages. Messages you send must not contain toxic content — this includes profanity, hate speech, insults, harassment, threats, and graphic or sexually explicit language. Chat messages are screened automatically for such content; a message that is flagged is blocked and will not be delivered. You may be restricted or suspended for repeatedly attempting to send prohibited content.
Profile pictures. When you upload a profile picture, you agree that it must be appropriate for a public, general audience. You may not upload imagery that is illegal, abusive, defamatory, sexually explicit, violent, hateful, or that infringes on others' rights. We do not claim ownership of your images. Animated GIF avatars must be chosen from the GIF picker, whose provider screens its library; direct upload of GIF files as avatars is not supported.
Automated moderation. Profile pictures are screened by an automated moderation system. Images that are flagged as inappropriate will be rejected and will not be made public. You may upload a different image that complies with these guidelines.
Removal. You may remove or replace your profile picture at any time from your settings. We reserve the right to remove content that violates these terms.
5. Following & Blocking
Following is one-way and does not require the other party’s approval. You may follow or unfollow any user. When you follow someone, they receive a notification that you started following them. Unfollowing is private and does not send a notification.
Blocking is your personal safety control. You may block any user from their profile. When you block a user, they can no longer follow you or send you messages, existing mutual follows are removed, and you stop seeing that user’s messages and online status. Your blocked users are listed under Settings → Privacy, where you can unblock them to restore these interactions. Blocking is private — we do not notify a user when you block or unblock them.
Abusing these controls — for example, mass-following or using blocking to circumvent a moderation action — may result in restriction of these features or suspension of your account.
6. Notifications & Native Alerts
When you enable push notifications, Live Chat may deliver native alerts to your device — for example, new followers, direct messages, account security alerts, and announcements — even when the app is closed. Notifications are entirely optional: you can turn them off at any time from Settings → Notifications, which stops delivery and removes this device’s stored subscription. Delivery is handled by your browser’s push service (Google, Mozilla, or Apple, depending on your browser). Notification preferences on your device — such as quiet hours, do-not-disturb, or focus modes — are controlled by your operating system, and we recommend you review them if you do not want to be alerted in certain situations.
7. Service Availability
We strive to keep the service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may modify or discontinue features at any time with notice.
8. Limitation of Liability
Live Chat is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for damages arising from your use of the service.
9. Changes to Terms
We may update these terms at any time. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
